Hot Toddy Recipe
When it's minus twenty outside, a hot toddy is the drink to wrap your hands around: whisky, honey and lemon in hot water, with a little spice.

Ingredients
- 1½ oz (45 ml) whisky
- 1 tbsp (15 ml) honey
- ½ oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
- 4–6 oz (120–180 ml) hot water
- Lemon slice studded with 3–4 cloves
- Cinnamon stick
Method
- Warm a heatproof mug by filling it with hot water, then pour it out.
- Add the honey and lemon juice, then pour in the hot (not boiling) water and stir until the honey dissolves.
- Stir in the whisky.
- Add the clove-studded lemon slice and the cinnamon stick, and let it steep for a minute before sipping.
Tips & variations
- Any whisky works. A smooth Canadian whisky or a blended Scotch is a classic choice; dark rum or brandy also make great toddies.
- A hot drink can feel comforting, but alcohol doesn't warm you up or cure a cold. If you're unwell, the honey-lemon-tea version is the better pick.
- For a zero-proof toddy, use strong black or rooibos tea instead of whisky.

Please enjoy responsibly. One standard drink is 43 ml (1.5 oz) of spirits. Know your pours, eat something, and plan a safe ride home.
