Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) lets retail liquor stores set their own hours anywhere between 9 AM and 2 AM, seven days a week (AGLC Retail Liquor Store Handbook, s.4.1.1, amended December 2020). Stores may choose shorter hours, which is why closing times vary from store to store. A few related rules:

Alberta has nine general (statutory) holidays: New Year's Day, Alberta Family Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day and Christmas Day. Heritage Day, Boxing Day and Easter Monday are optional holidays that employers may choose to recognize (Alberta.ca). Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and Easter Sunday aren't holidays, but they're busy days for parties, so plan ahead.
Beat the rush: shop a few days early, use the party drinks calculator to work out quantities, and check our gift guide and holiday cocktails like mulled wine and hot toddies. Whatever you're celebrating, plan a safe ride home.

Yes, liquor stores in Alberta can open on Remembrance Day. Alberta's Remembrance Day Act only covers school ceremonies and doesn't require stores to close, and AGLC's hours rules are the same as on any other day.
