Margarita Recipe
A great margarita needs three things: tequila, orange liqueur and fresh lime juice. Shake it hard with plenty of ice, salt the rim if you like, and you have a bright, sour patio classic.

Ingredients
- 2 oz (60 ml) blanco (silver) tequila
- 1 oz (30 ml) orange liqueur, such as triple sec
- 1 oz (30 ml) fresh lime juice
- Optional: ¼–½ oz (7–15 ml) agave syrup
- Lime wedge and coarse salt, for the rim
- Ice
Method
- Rub a lime wedge around half the rim of the glass and dip it in coarse salt.
- Add the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and agave syrup (if using) to a shaker with ice.
- Shake hard for about 15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold.
- Strain into the glass, over fresh ice if you're using a rocks glass.
- Garnish with a lime wheel.
Tips & variations
- Blanco tequila gives the brightest, most citrusy margarita. Reposado adds softer, oaky notes.
- Look for "100% agave" on the tequila label.
- For a pitcher of eight, mix 2 cups tequila, 1 cup orange liqueur and 1 cup lime juice. Shake each serving with ice so it's properly chilled and diluted.
