Moscow Mule Recipe

The Moscow mule is spicy, citrusy and dead simple: vodka, lime and ginger beer over ice. The copper mug is traditional, but any tall glass works.

Ingredients

  • 1½ oz (45 ml) vodka
  • ½ oz (15 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz (120 ml) cold ginger beer
  • Ice
  • Lime wedge and mint sprig, to garnish

Method

  1. Fill a copper mug or highball glass with ice.
  2. Add the vodka and lime juice.
  3. Top with ginger beer and stir gently.
  4. Garnish with a lime wedge and a mint sprig.

Tips & variations

  • Ginger beer is spicier than ginger ale. If you only have ginger ale, add a little extra lime.
  • Swap the vodka for bourbon to make a Kentucky mule, or for dark rum for a dark-and-stormy style drink.
  • Leave out the vodka for an easy alcohol-free mule. Ginger beer and lime are refreshing on their own.
